I really like the theme. My biggest gripe is with all the customizing ability there aren't more.I've done so much more through css, but sometimes may css changes never happen even if I make the element !important. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I wish the comments were Ajax based so a page didn't need to be redrawn. Also wish there were more "dark mode" choices for theme choices in WP appearance admin.
Hasn't been an update in a while either.
But all in all I'm happy with my purchase.

Paperio is blog / news specific theme without any page builder, so yes you may need to implement custom css for deep style customisation. But we will add more customisation options wherever they should be helpful to users. But as you mentioned your custom css were not affecting, in this case please create a support ticket and our support team will be happy to check and guide you as needed.
Yes comments are WordPress default without Ajax, but we will add this feedback in our technical team list.
Theme do not have any critical or compatibility (with WordPress) issues and no errors reported by any users also. But we will update it in future whenever required.
